The glory of God has touched my life in many ways. However the most influential
of them all is through the game of basketball. At an early age God paved the
road for me by providing opportunities to play organized ball. The teammates
and coaches that influenced my life on and off the court were just a small
part of God’s overall plan for me. He showed me countless failures and only
a handful of triumphs. Like anybody else that played the game I found myself
maturing as a basketball player but unlike everybody else, I also found myself
maturing as a Christian.
The mixing of basketball and Christianity seemed to be God’s plan for me.
I’ve prayed about this ‘mixing’ and asked what was His plan for me. What can
I possibly do to further His glory? What path should I walk to bring myself
closer to Him? God answered my prayer by giving me the opportunity to join
the Chinese Christian Union Basketball Committee in the winter of 2001. My
role on the Committee was simple and clear. Sacrifice your time. Serve His
people. Spread His Word. Witness to others. Coach the game. And keep on serving
for His glory and His alone.
For the past couple of years God has blessed me by allowing me to share and
spread His love both locally and at a national level. Locally serving CCU
and nationally spreading the Gospel of God’s love by coaching the CCU Basketball
Team – Ambassadors of Christ. Through sports ministries I am able to pass
the knowledge of the game to the next generation. I pray that I succeed in
passing my faith in Christ to them as well. My faith in the Lord has grown
immensely and I pray that I may straighten my walk so that I can continue
witnessing to others for His glory.
